January Round-up

What a fun month with the doggies!  We had our first private play-date and the dogs had a lot of fun playing with each other.  We also have some regulars with Tuesday & Friday being our busiest days – tuckers those pups out for a couple of days so you can have a social life and your doggie won’t even miss you!  We are excited to announce that we have partnered up with A Treat to Train to offer group training classes starting February 6th.  We are starting with Smart Puppy and Family Dog but hope to extend our classes to offer advanced training with unique elements to challenge you & your dog.  Check out the website www.treattotrain.com – we love working with Elizabeth Foubert and her positive approach to training your dog.  She also trains our staff so you can know that what you teach your dog is practiced here at Canine Crews during doggie daycare and when you board your fur kid.

Sometimes you just have to take a break – even if it is in the middle of the doggie daycare floor

What is a Chicago City dog license?

All Chicago residents must have a current city dog license. They are available online at www.chicityclerk.com/licenses/dogs.html, or at the Office of the Chicago City Clerk, City Hall, Room 107, 121 N. La Salle Street, 312-744-3647. The cost is $5.00 and you must have proof of your pet’s current rabies vaccination and veterinarian documentation of dog’s spay or neuter.

What types of vaccines are required?

Canine Crews requires DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus) , rabies, bordetello and a fecal exam for parasites. We also require that animal is on flea & tick preventative.

My First Billboard

We are so excited to see our first billboards around town.

Canine Crews is Now Open

Phew…we did it!  We are open and learning the rhythm of the dogs and their daycare & boarding schedules.  With 12,000 square feet of space, we are one of the bigger doggie daycares in Chicago and boy are we glad that we have over 6,000 square feet of dedicated indoor play space as well as our fenced outdoor play yard.  The dogs LOVE it and our new regulars practically drag their people down the street to our building!  The training our staff has received is working wonders on our “high-energy” dogs that are now so comfortable at Canine Crews that their barking is now within the realm of play instead of frustration.  Socialization is the best solution for dogs as the other dogs correct them and let them know what they like and don’t like about a behavior.  You can literally watch the dog learn from the other dogs and strive to be better so they can play.  It’s a beautiful thing – a well-exercised do is a well-behaved dog!
